Vacancy: Secondary Care Consultant

The three Clinical Commissioning Groups in Leeds are merging from 1 April 2018, and we are recruiting a Secondary Care Consultant to join the governing body.

As well as sharing responsibility with the other members for all aspects of the CCG governing body business, this clinical member will bring a broader view, on health and care issues to underpin the work of the CCG. In particular, they will bring to the governing body an understanding of patient care in the secondary care setting.

Candidates should have local knowledge and interests and a commitment to good, high quality patient care. For further information, please see the Supporting Information Pack for ApplicantsRole Description and Application Form which can be downloaded from this page.

We are seeking applications from individuals who can bring their unique perspective, informed by their experience and expertise as a senior clinician in secondary care. You must be able to bring a broader view on health and in particular a depth of understanding and insight into patient care in a secondary setting.  We are looking for individuals who bring a passion to improve services and who draw on relevant experience to actively challenge and bring objectivity to the decisions we make.

The individual cannot be an employee or members (including shareholder) of, or a partner in, a provider of primary medical services, or a provider with whom the CCG has made commissioning arrangements. The exceptions are where the CCG has made an arrangement with a provider, subsequent to a patient exercising choice, and where the CCG has made an arrangement with a provider in special circumstances to meet the specific needs of a patient (for example, where there is a very limited choice of provider for a highly specialised service).

Whilst you may well no longer practice medicine, you will need to demonstrate that you still have a relevant understanding of care in the secondary setting.

The notional time commitment for the role is 2.5 days per month (on average). The remuneration is to be confirmed. You will be required to submit a short application form and CV to apply for this role. The closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 23 February with interviews scheduled for Tuesday 13 March.

Please note that there are certain restrictions on who can be appointed as a member of a CCG governing body, which are set out on page 6 of the Supporting Information Pack.

If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role with Dr Gordon Sinclair, Clinical Chair, please contact his PA Ela Kassemoff 0113 8435505 or before the closing date.
